Coffee that tastes good. Coffee that does good.

In 2009, Street Bean was born out of a need to provide supportive employment training for young adults experiencing housing instability in Seattle. As part of New Horizons' work, Street Bean Café opened its doors in Belltown in the shadow of the Space Needle to become a space of opportunity for apprentices for many years to come.

Coffee shops act as a safe space for people of all walks of life needing a welcoming place to be, work, slow down, meet with friends, rally for change and connect with community. Street Bean aims to embody this, both through our apprenticeship program and our relationship with the Belltown neighborhood. It is a place where your morning coffee does good (and tastes good)!

With beans sourced from Haiti Coffee Co., we know that we are brewing delicious coffee that is roasted to perfection by a company aligned with our emphasis on community. The beans are derived from farmers who receive the fair pay that they deserve and whose profits support young entrepreneurs in Haiti.

At our very heart, Street Bean exists to partner with apprentices! Through apprenticeships, participants build positive connections with peers, gain valuable references, receive mentoring and supervision, and develop the confidence needed to excel in a traditional work environment. Additionally, they have the opportunity to expand their social connections and move forward with self-identified goals such as housing or school.
